Mark Jewett is an insightful Michigan storyteller with listeners in over 60 countries. He writes songs that push the boundaries of Americana into an uncommon blend of folk, rock, blues, and prog rock. Throughout them, listeners can hear and feel his honesty, gratitude, and introspective thoughts, with healthy doses of humor and drama to vary the pace.

His songs betray the effort he makes to find just the right words, taking cues from the likes of Jackson Browne, Paul Simon, Randy Newman, and JD Souther. As a writer, he finds the lighter side of life easy to put to music, but writing about love, loss, and the road between them is harder to get right. Sonically, his tunes span the space between classic folk and epic soundscapes you might expect to hear from Pink Floyd. Somehow, it all fits together to provide an intriguing, self-contained variety show.

Here are a few things reviewers have had to say about Mark's music:

"The word "dawn" came into my head after a few spins of Jewett's newest tracks, not only because there's a muted iridescence to his voice, but he sings the sentiments of his lyrics with the quiet profundity that can come with a perfect glowing dawn, as though these reverences for life and for love are dawning on him as he puts pen to page. The melodies are delicate, the pedal-steel perfectly curtains the meditative ambiance, and it puts a sparks a new ember from the folk-Americana genre." - Jeff Milo, Columnist at Current Magazine

“The best songs do two things, deftly revealing the unvarnished truth about both the songsmith and the listener. With ‘Love Has No Heart Of Its Own’, Mark Jewett has delivered a clutch of tunes that neatly and effortlessly accomplish both ends. You can hear who Mark is in every line, from the heartfelt to the humorous. All of his influences and interests are filtered through his unique and honest slant on life, love, longing and contentment. A warm and pleasurable packet of songs delivered with wry wit.” - Nolan Mendenhall, Producer, Work Ethic Productions
